Regulation of Subdomain Delegation for Personal Use

Last update: 2024/07/22

Policy Brief & Purpose

This policy outlines the regulations for delegating subdomains under the GitData domain (e.g., chosenprefix.gd.edu.kg) for personal use by GitData members. The primary goal is to recognize and reward members who have made significant contributions to GitData projects by providing them with a personal subdomain. This subdomain can be used to showcase their work, share resources, or host personal projects.

Scope

This policy applies to all GitData members who wish to obtain a personal subdomain. The subdomain is a privilege extended to members who meet specific contribution criteria and is intended for use in alignment with GitData’s mission and values.

Eligibility Criteria for Subdomain Delegation

To qualify for a personal subdomain, members must meet the following criteria:

  1. GitData Membership:

    • The applicant must be a current GitData member.

  2. Significant Contribution:

    • The member must have made significant contributions to at least one project associated with GitData. Significant contributions can include, but are not limited to:

      • Leading or playing a pivotal role in project execution.

      • Contributing substantial research, analysis, or technical work.

      • Developing innovative solutions or methodologies that were crucial to the project's success.

      • Securing funding or partnerships that were critical to the project's execution.

      • Mentoring other team members and fostering a collaborative environment.

  3. Recognition and Impact:

    • Among the projects contributed, at least one must meet one of the following conditions:

      • The project has received a title or recognition in an international or well-known professional competition.

      • The related research paper or findings from the project have been successfully published in a reputable journal or conference proceedings.

Review Process

The allocation of a personal subdomain involves a review process to ensure that the member's contributions meet the necessary criteria. The process includes:

  1. Peer Review:

    • Other GitData members who have worked with the applicant on the relevant projects will be consulted. Their input will help assess the significance and impact of the applicant's contributions.

  2. Final Evaluation:

    • A senior GitData member will review the feedback and evaluate whether the applicant's contributions meet the eligibility criteria.

Use of Subdomain

Members granted a personal subdomain must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Primary Purpose: The subdomain should primarily be used for activities related to the member's work with GitData or personal projects that align with GitData's values.

  • Content Standards: The content hosted on the subdomain must comply with GitData's standards for professionalism and appropriateness. It should not contain offensive, defamatory, or inappropriate material.

  • Commercial Use: The subdomain should not be used for commercial purposes without prior approval from GitData's administration.

  • Nameserver Requirements: Members must find a reliable and secure DNS provider to host their subdomain. At least two nameserver records are required to ensure redundancy and reliability. This helps maintain the security and availability of the subdomain.

Monitoring and Compliance

GitData reserves the right to monitor the use of personal subdomains to ensure compliance with this policy. If a member violates the policy or uses the subdomain in a manner inconsistent with GitData's mission, the subdomain may be revoked.
